Nebraska Life Magazine is hiring an Editor to lead editorial efforts for Nebraska’s bimonthly statewide magazine. Nebraska Life is a much-loved, award-winning magazine that reaches 140,000 readers in Nebraska, across the U.S. and around the world with entertaining stories and beautiful photography about the travel, history, adventure, people and culture of Nebraska. Nebraska Life is family owned and will celebrate its 25th year in 2022. We’re looking for an experienced and energetic editor to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign, schedule and edit six bimonthly issues
  • Solicit and generate story ideas
  • Write department and feature stories
  • Coordinate and cultivate our stable of freelance writers and photographers
  • Lead internal editorial planning and production meetings
  • Engage with leaders of businesses and communities
  • Represent the magazine at public events and meetings
  • Become an authority on all things Nebraska

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in journalism, integrated media communications, history, English writing, marketing or related fields of study
  • 5+ years of magazine writing experience
  • 2+ years of magazine editing experience
  • Bonus qualification: Intimate knowledge of Nebraska culture and history

You will be responsible for overseeing and developing print advertising sales revenue for Nebraska Life and related media products in our market. You’ll work with community and business leaders across the state in tourism, hospitality, events, recreation, small businesses and marketing agencies.

We’re looking for an experienced leader with a deep love of Nebraska who is excited for a long-term career in the magazine publishing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, plan and coordinate advertising sales activities for six bimonthly magazine issues
  • Strategize and organize sale marketing campaigns – including lists, direct-mail campaigns and email marketing campaigns
  • Create prospect lists and sales/marketing campaigns
  • Communicate with prospects and clients by mail, phone, email and in-person visits
  • Write and deliver sales pitches and proposals
  • Enter notes, proposals, contracts and other data into CRM database
  • Oversee CRM database
  • Build and form new partnerships with potential clients
  • Track results and trends for business forecasting
  • Build and manage a sale team
  • Set quotas, goals and objectives
  • Report on sales performance
  • Provide excellent customer service to ensure client success

  • 3-5 years sales experience
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, marketing, journalism, advertising, integrated media communications, or related fields of study

Customer Service Representative

Are you outgoing, organized and an excellent communicator? Colorado Life Magazine in Windsor is hiring Customer Service Representatives for our magazine publishing business. Our CSRs are service, sales and communication experts who help our customers place and fulfill their subscription and advertising orders. This is a part-time position with flexible hours to work around family and school schedules - 20-30 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and provide customer support for magazine subscribers
  • Reply to incoming emails from advertisers
  • Send proposals to advertisers by email
  • Call advertiser customers and help them place their orders
  • Assist with past-due accounts receivable collections
  • Gather advertising materials, write ad copy, and communicate ad design information to designers
  • Liase between advertisers and designers to complete advertisements for publication

Qualifications

  • Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel and Word

  • Professional email skills
